Community Resource Center Updates – June 14

In this week’s issue of the Community Corner newsletter:

Child Care for Families Experiencing Homelessness: The Child Care Aware of Washington Family Center is a statewide call center assisting families in finding licensed child care providers, navigating child care financial assistance options, finding alternative forms of care, and connecting families to COVID-related resources in their community. They also help families who are experiencing homelessness find child care for up to 12 months at no cost to them. Learn more here.

Provider Highlight – Path with Art: Path with Art fosters the restoration of individuals, groups, and society from the effects of trauma through arts engagement and community-building. Path with Art serves low-to-no income adults in active recovery from domestic abuse, homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and other trauma who are working to rebuild their lives. Programs include 8-week classes in a variety of disciplines (visual art, music, theater/performance, dance, writing), site-based workshops tailored to social service partners, mailed art-kits, exhibitions + showcases , weekly open-studio and tech support, and community connections. Virtual Workshop: Evictions and Terminations: Attend this virtual workshop June 23, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. to learn about tenant’s rights when confronted with an eviction or termination. Disaster Cash Assistance Program Reinstated: Effective June 14, 2021, the Disaster Cash Assistance Program (DCAP) will once again be activated in response to COVID-19. It is available to families or individuals without children who face an emergency and don’t have the money to meet their basic needs. Learn more here.
