Community Resource Center Updates – October 2, 2023

In this week’s Community Corner newsletter:

  • The Auburn branch of the King County Library System is hosting a community resource fair on Sunday, October 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The fair will include free cell phones to eligible attendees, transportation resources, health resources, access to Basic Food, Orca Lift, and more.   • Auburn Prevention Coalition is hosting Guiding Good Choices (Guiando Buenas Decisiones) in person, in Auburn, in Spanish this fall! It’s a free, five-week program for parents of youth entering the teen years, focusing on how to have family conversations about substance use and other challenging topics. Classes will occur Fridays from October 20 to November 17 in the library at Cascade Middle School, and dinner will be provided. Register here.
  • Women 40 years or older who are King County residents can schedule free mammograms in Auburn (October 14) and Rainier Beach (October 21). Call 800-756-5437 to schedule.
  • One Stop Resource is hosting its Grand Opening and Resource Fair on Wednesday, October 4 at 10 a.m. at their new location at the Outlet Collection Seattle. This is an opportunity to explore their new office space, check out their free phone devices and services, and discover community resource partners. Food will be provided.
