Community Resource Center Updates – June 26, 2023

In this week’s Community Corner newsletter:

  • The CRC will be closing early on Wednesday, June 28, at noon for staff training. We reopen on Thursday, June 29, at 8:30 a.m.
  • We have updated the CRC schedule as a result of provider availability. Visit our website for the most up-to-date information.
  • Learn about community resources and services at the South King County Resource Fair on Tuesday, July 10, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Federal Way Library. Local organizations with be available to assist with free or reduced ORCA bus cards, free bicycle tune-ups, insurance enrollment with King County Public Health, hygiene kits, support applying for assistance, referrals to local resources, and more!   • Resource Highlight: The Tribal Resources Hub is a resource line specifically for Native American/Alaska Native people. The Hub was developed to support Indian health care providers, Tribal governments, families, and individuals looking for assistance navigating the complex behavioral health system. The Hub provides both Native and Non-Native resources to any person requesting them. Reach out for help with information finding inpatient facilities for behavioral health and/or substance abuse, connecting to legal assistance, utility assistance, vocational rehab, and housing resources.   • Mental Health First Aid is an interactive course that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis. Trainings are offered for youth and adult mental health. Participants will learn how to reach out and provide initial support to someone experiencing a crisis, using a 5-step action plan. Trainings are FREE for KC employees and residents over 18 and are available virtually and in person. See the next adult training session here.
